Mollý is Icelandic (hence the patronym Jökulsdóttir), now based in Denmark and her latest single is ‘Easy’, meaning that’s its title and it is easy to listen to, which we probably need now for a change after a few heavy hitters in quick succession recently.
With a title like ‘Easy’ though there is always the suspicion before you listen to it that it might concern someone who can appear to be easy with their morals, a Rihanna-like character for example.
That isn’t the case but what Mollý does is to, in her own words, “turn gender norms upside down” with a song about “how girls can play the game too.” All cheekily innocently, of course.
‘Easy’ is undeniably dance floor material, the place where the female of the species can push the buttons and often does as the typical male is usually well out of his comfort zone.
With a Gaga-like beat, metre and vocal delivery, various noises off in the form of little Shania Twain-style whispered comments and a catchy set of synthesised melodies, Mollý can’t go wrong with this format, which will appeal to any young lady aged from 12 to 52.
It even got my feet twitching. In fact I reckon I’ll head off to the disco tonight. Now where did I put that zimmer frame?
Molly says 2025 has been her biggest year yet, with growing support across Iceland and on UK radio.
While she churns out engaging songs like this that support will continue to gain in strength. That’s ‘Easy’ to figure out.
