“If you’re bored, change the chord,
Forget the horde, get on board”…
A simple enough mantra from the Swedes, delivered in a languid pop-punk style very similar to that of one of our regulars at NMC, the Finn Forwardman, who was here only recently.
With their jangly guitars, insistent riff and strong hook Yogavision are clearly the Chairmen of the Bored in their part of the word.
A song I guess about seizing the moment and changing your life for the better being as easy as swapping a group of notes on a keyboard or fret board, ‘Bored’ is the sort that quickly becomes an anthem during live performances for which I believe they have become well known.
Originally experimenting with hip hop and rap when they began in the early 1990s, their current sound was shaped after they were joined by guitarist Sebastian Heselius.
They went AWOL for quite a long time and reunited in 2024, recording one new song each year since then.
They won’t get bored that way, and neither will you with this song, which will grow on you each time you play it.
