NMC Spotify Playlist #6 March 2022

March was a tough month for NMC with a hiatus caused by a website malfunction which took us offline for a while but the music was still pumping out and we did our best to catch up.

As usual here is our month-end (plus a few days) round-up of some of the tracks which particularly impressed us during the month, starting off with Sweden’s Malin Wättring’s (very) slow-burner, ‘I want the Truth’.

Norway’s Amanda Tenfjord charmed us as ever with the Greek entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, the oddly-named ‘Die Together.’

Also from Norway, superstar Sigrid returns with a prelude to her second album which is due out next month and which is called ‘It gets dark.’

Perennial Swedish favourites ViVii also have a new single out, another of their classic dream pop numbers, this one called ‘Wrap your arms’.

In complete contrast, Sweden’s Daniel Östersjö, one half of the francophone duo Le Lac Long 814, has released his ‘masterful’ take on Dylan’s ‘Masters of War.’ No prizes for guessing what it’s about.

Back to Norway and another volte-face. This time it’s the dynamic Oslo quartet Das Body singing about a ‘Badboy’ and his/her attitude to the bottle.

In contrast again is the sweet charm of Sweden’s multi-talented Bina, who we were privileged to feature in a world video premiere in March. Her song, ‘Northern Lights’, was officially released on 8th April but we’re so keen for you to hear her if you already haven’t that we’ll pretend it was last month.

Denmark is represented by Brit Pop duo The Oceans with ‘Did you know.’

The final two tracks from March are both Finnish, the first being Team Play’s excellent, almost cabaret-style ‘Keep me in the dark’ and the second a tribute song from one of our favourites, Forwardman, with ‘Rivers,’ a tribute to a friend.

Remember, you can read the reviews of all these songs and/or the albums they came from on the Nordic Music Central website.

Enjoy!h
