kode_c (Denmark) – No one is here (debut single/title track from forthcoming EP)

It all sounds a little mysterious doesn’t it? A band name that suggests wartime subterfuge, or the response plan to a biological and chemical attack.

With that signature, by now almost trademark, musical intro, a repeating note, that suggests it belongs to a dark Scandi Noir TV drama.

And a title that implies it follows on from where the post apocalyptic films 28 Days Later and Cloverfield leave off, in dystopian misery.

Then the ethereal gravitas is punctuated by explosions that make you jump out of your chair if you haven’t anticipated them.

It’s a battlefield soundtrack, from Saving Private Ryan or The Hurt Locker (and it would have made for an excellent one of those). Or something from Alien, as Sigourney and the crew examine a deserted spaceship, a Mary Celeste of the skies, the empty corridors echoing voices while potential danger lurks around every corner.

The beauty of ambient music like this is that you can let your mind wander as far as you like.

And while many artists claim an ability to meld acoustic and electronic music, kode_c does it remarkably well. Especially that cello.

‘No one is here’ isn’t going to be topping the Billboard 100 but it will undoubtedly flag attention where it matters. Indeed, it already has.

The duo comprises visual artist Inger Lise Oellgaard and composer/producer Martin Messell.

This title track is the first single from a debut seven-track EP set for release on 10th September, 2026.
