NP York (Denmark) – As bold as a heart (single/future album track)

Denmark is a clear leader in the race to get a new batch of musical releases out into the world following the long summer Scandinavian vacation, which is we’ve had so many of them recently.

In fact NP York’s latest single, which is the third and last one released that will also to feature on an album on 18th September, was actually put out on 14th August while most Danes were still on the beach or in the bar or however they spend their holidays.

NP York has twice turned up in these pages before now. One song hung on a weird storyline about waking up to the thought and vain hope that buying early flowers at a petrol station could save a relationship; one that evidently went disastrously wrong the night before.

The second, ‘Walk on by’ (March 2026) contained the premise that with all that’s going down right now it’s probably best to do just that rather than sticking your nose in and get it broken for your trouble. Embrace apathy rather than confront the frenzy

It was the expression of ultimate world weariness; a global depression and it is no surprise to learn that at least one of those songs was written during the wake of a period of personal depression.

But things are looking up, at least judging from this latest single, ‘As bold as a heart,’ and in which NP York extols the virtues of the fearless heart which chooses love over and again despite knowing it will have to pay the price, and the indomitable spirit that compels that throbbing organ (and others) to keep risking everything to achieve its end goal.

(Pardon the innuendo; I’m just in that mood tonight!)

Somewhere along the line he’s had an epiphany. There is no sign whatsoever of depression here. “Nothing breaks as bold as the heart” he sings – it gets knocked down but it gets right back up again.

You can’t help but get the feeling that he actually enjoys the challenge of mending a broken heart. And even finding someone new to break it again.

The song is uplifting throughout, moves at a jaunty pace and rocks its way through three minutes and thirty seconds so quickly you’ll wonder where that time went.

The album release will be followed by tour dates in Denmark.
